Additionally, 95,000 Hausa members were displaced to other States in Sudan and others crossed the boarders to Ethiopia as refugees. Approximately 30 Sudanese Army Forces (SAF) soldiers were tried and convicted by the military judiciary parish (military court) and sentenced to 15 to 20 years imprisonment depending on the charges as provided for under the SAF law, 1986. 10 MI officer were resultantly transferred from Blue Nile to other Sudanese states.

OCTOBER, 2022 INCIDENTS

On 13th October the town witnessed an individual clash/conflict between a Hausa member and Jabeel member at the local port area in dam town.  The two was used weapons such as knives during the fight. It later escalated to use of guns as the two parties mobilized people to join in the conflict. The situation resulted into the death of 6 Hausa members and 2 Jebeel members. 4 people were injured and they were evacuated to Al-damazin hospital for medical attention.

On 19th October, 2022 the Blue Nile general Secretary region passed a state decree following orders from the governor, Gen. Ahmed Alomdah Badie following the escalating tension between the tribes in the town and resultant withdrawal of regular forces. The decree was directed to trucks owners and drivers not to offer relocation services to the residents of the Dam town located in Wad Almahi locality in Blue Nile who wanted to leave the region. The punishment for the truck owners/drivers who defy the decree was confiscation of their trucks. This arose from a situation where numbers of Hausa residents of dam town had planned to move from Wad Almahi locality and relocate to other states.

Prior to the announcement of the decree some Huasa members had already moved to the main-street waiting for trucks to relocate them to other states. They had acted on instructions of Mr. Wad Almahi the locality Governor following the withdrawal of the government forces from Central Reserve thus leaving the locals vulnerable to insecurity and attacks. However, this relocation process was halted and the police was tasked to provide security to the residents. The residents/locals then returned to their homes where they found that their homes had been occupied by Gomez tribesmen who are also living in same village. The two parties discussed and resolved their issues which resulted into the Gomez people vacating the houses.

Around 6:00pm a group of Hausa people attacked the Gomez people basing on allegations that the Gomez were plotting to launch an attack and loot their property.  The attack resulted into the killing of approximately 135 Gomez people and injuring several others. 88 of the injured people were taken to hospitals in Al-Damazin while those with serious injuries were transferred to Khartoum.
