South Sudan human rights monitor

12 April 2019

South Sudan has experienced widespread human rights abuses and crimes, including a significant amount of sexual and gender-based violence coupled with ethnic violence, since the conflict began in December 2013. Since the start of the conflict, violence has escalated at an alarming rate across the country, resulting in widespread killings, rapes, extensive property damage and looting of civilian property. This Newsletter seeks to report detailed incidents of human rights abuses and crimes committed against civilians, which have been documented by local monitors working anonymously in the Northern and Southern Liech States, Wau and Yei areas.
