EMPLOYMENT WITH ACJPS- SOCIAL MEDIA CONSULTANT

  1. Background

The African Centre for Justice and Peace Studies (ACJPS) is a non-profit, non- governmental organization working to monitor and promote respect for human rights and legal reform in Sudan. ACJPS is dedicated to creating a Sudan committed to all human rights, the rule of law and peace, in which the rights and freedoms of the individual are honored and where all persons and groups are granted their rights to non-discrimination, equality and justice.

In October 2023, ACJPS received funding from DT Global to implement a project entitled “Increasing the availability and visibility of evidence-based information of human rights violations in Darfur, Sudan since 15 April 2023”. The project was developed to increase the availability and visibility of evidence-based information of human rights violations in Darfur from 15 April 2023. One of the activities under this project is social media campaign on human rights issues in Sudan. ACJPS therefore is seeking a social media consultant to manage social media campaigns including drafting messages in consultation with the ACJPS team and posting them on the Centre’s social media accounts.

II. Description of assignment/task of the consultant

In the execution of this assignment, the consultant shall undertake the following tasks:

  • Meet with ACJPS team to understand and agree on the scope of the consultancy and timeline;
  • Develop a clearly defined social media campaign strategy. The strategy will provide information and guidance on how to use communication techniques, social media tools and different platforms, including: Planning and delivery of digital and social media campaigns to attract the attention of the general public, donors, young people, civil society, etc;
  • Drafting and updating content for different social media campaign on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and other relevant social media network;
  • Monitoring and analysis of the audience engagement on ACJPS’ social media platforms;
  • Assist with the designing of info-graphic material to be used in ACJPS advocacy and social media outreach;
  • Advising on best practices for leveraging social media technologies, and advising on tools and resources to measure success in using social media tools.
  • Regularly posting the Centre’s information on all social media accounts.
  • Open up the ACJPS accounts on Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok.
  • Organizing online discussions on platforms such as twitter space, zoom, Webex, google meet among others.
  • Confidentiality

The consultant is responsible to maintain confidentiality of ACJPS’ documents that is shared with her/him during the assignment and must not take reference of those documents and information in any other task. The consultant must also ensure the confidentiality of beneficiaries at all times.

IV. Timing and deliverables

The assignment is expected to take three months. Estimated starting date is 23 October 2023.

The consultant is expected to deliver the following:

  • Inception report detailing the Consultants’ understanding of the terms of reference.
  • Draft social media campaign messages.
  • Evidence of messages posted on social media accounts.

V. Consultancy fees

The consultant will be paid a competitive monthly fee.

 VI. Reporting

The consultant will work closely with and report to the Senior Program Officer. However, Human Resource will provide oversight to the his/her work.

VII. Qualifications:

  • Relevant Master’s degree with 2 years relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree in communications with minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
  • Established knowledge of the required techniques, communications approaches, tools, and methodologies for planning, executing and monitoring social media activities.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills and sound working knowledge of digital communications tools and channels.
  • Demonstrate political acumen, cultural sensitivity and strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact with people at various professional levels and from diverse backgrounds.
  • Personal and professional integrity, self-motivation, sound judgement and ability to work independently.
  • Spoken and written fluency required in English. Proficiency in Arabic would be desirable.
  • Strong organizational, research and analytical skills. High attention to detail.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated willingness to provide help, assistance and support to members of the team.

 VIII. Submission of proposals

 Interested consultants should submit:

  • A proposal and a letter of availability and an explanation of how their professional experience matches the skills and qualifications lis The proposal should demonstrate sound knowledge, technical skills and capability as required by the nature of the work and understanding of the requisite tasks set forth in the terms of reference;
  • At least two positive references/recommendations from past employers must be submitted.
