In June 2022, the African Centre for Justice and peace studies (ACJPS) partnered with Stichting Vredesbeweging Pax Nederland to implement a 12-months month project on ‘Documenting and reporting on enforced disappearance and human trafficking in Sudan. One of the objectives of the project is to maintain availability of accurate and reliable information on human rights violations including human trafficking.
To meet this objective, ACJPS undertook to monitor, document, and generate an evidence-based report, tailored to expose the continued use of enforced disappearance, torture and ill-treatment and the impact of 25 October coup and the state of emergency on the accountability process and access to justice for victims of arbitrary arrest, enforced disappearance and torture. The report is intended to be used for future engagement with national authorities and international policy makers on combating enforced disappearance and torture in Sudan. The information in this report was gathered through mainly through human rights monitoring by ACJPS in Sudan in addition to literature review.
